To all the Moms or Dads out there, we admire you. We honestly don’t know how you do it – juggling between work, home, and of course – the mischievous kids. Raising children takes immense knowledge, skills, time and effort.
Let us ask you some questions:
- Does your baby make a mess at the dining table?
- Does your kid dislike your cooking?
- Do they spit out the vegetables because they taste so bland?
- Did you say “yes” to at least one of the above?
If your answer to the last question is “yes”, we are here to help. Cooking for yourself is not easy, let alone for your family, especially when you have a child who is a picky eater. Follow these simple tricks below to get your kids to eat healthy!
Greens in Disguise
Majority of children dislike eating vegetables because of the taste. The solution is to disguise it, but how? Step one – buy a blender. There is nothing weird about mixing greens into your morning smoothies. In fact, it is a well-approved thing to do! Some popular vegetables to sneak in are spinach, kale, collard greens and beet greens. Don’t forget about avocados, although they are technically considered fruits.
The wonderful thing about this is that your kids will not be able to tell at all. The sweet citrus aroma of fruit will overpower the bland taste of vegetables. If you wish to give it an extra pump, add a sprinkle of our Organic Black Chia Seeds, Ground Turmeric or other types of Superfoods which you find appropriate!
Healthy Twist
Savoury potato chips are the perfect afternoon pick-me-up, but only on cheat days. You can still enjoy delicious crisps any days with a healthy twist. Make veggie fries using carrots, beets, zucchini or sweet potatoes! Toss them in an air fryer using only 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt.
A family movie night won’t be complete without popcorn. Did you know that popcorn is one of the healthiest snacks due to its high-fibre content? Forget about the buttery drizzles though, Nutritional Yeast makes the best savoury topping with its natural cheesy and nutty flavour. Who says healthy foods can’t taste good? Your kids will totally love it.
Learning From Cooking
Children have the greatest curiosity out of all ages. Those who are involved in the process of cooking are more likely to actually try the finished dish. It is also the best opportunity for parents to teach them about healthy foods – why we do or don’t eat this. Expose your kids to all types of ingredients so they will grow up thinking that kale is a staple, not an exotic green.
Cute, Colourful & Creative
Children are naturally drawn to things that are cute and colourful. If you want to become the Best Mom of the Year, you need to first know how to pack the best lunch for your kids to bring to school. There are so many creative bento box ideas you can find online. How about a teddy bear nut butter toast? Star-shaped fruits? Panda Onigiri rice balls? A smiley smoothie bowl? Be fun and innovative!
